They are up north from what I have heard. nothing to speak of around me though......YET !! like you Im looking at next week as well.
Well it looks like I might be able to get out on some ice next week. The lakes around here have actually been froze for three days and it looks like no warm weather in the near future. First ice in mid-January just does not seem right but I will take it anyway. Anyone on the ice in Michigan now?
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

good luck to any one who gets out
Any reports for the Lake mitchell or Cadillac area ? greatly appreciated. !
I just got the report from the Cadillac area. Both Lake Mitchell and Cadillac have 2-3 inches. Anglers are catching a few panfish but have only been on the ice for 2 days so there are not many people fishing yet.

True story, all the lakes in our area should be fishable this weekend. Their getting some real nice Crappies on Rose Lake now.
Quit wishing and go fishing

I got a report from a friend up on Houghton Lake yesterday and he said between and 5 inches, depending on exactly what part of the lake you are on.
