Default a bit of fatherly pride

A few weeks back I took my boy out to catch his first fish. Bluegill naturally. He's got a nice little rig, vintage Zebco 33 on a medium light 5' IM7 graphite casting rod, bobber, split shot, hook and worm. I put some 10# test on it because there are lots of hard snags and trees where we fish, plus the chance of catching other fish is high too.

He was so proud to catch his first fish, and of course that made me even more proud!

Not a fish worth bragging about but it will be a fish remembered for a lifetime!

    So the addiction begins...

I disagree about the bragging part. I'll bet he will be bragging about the fish he caught with Dad for a long time to come. Actually if this was his first fish it will be the most memorable. Good job Dad. Don't have to worry about where your kids are if they got a pole and a can of worms.

Good report. There needs to be more caring fathers like you in the world. Both of you will cherish this memory the rest of your lives.

Thanks guys, I learned it from my father and I made sure that my son's first time fishing that my dad was there too. This is a local park that stocks trout in the winter/spring but the ponds are too shallow and get too hot to maintain a population year round.
