Baitcast reels? Don't you mean spincast? The lures crappie anglers use are too light to cast with a baitcaster. Spinning and spincast are all I take on the boat when fishing exclusively for crappie and panfish in general.
(IMO, avoid Shakespeare reels. Yesterday I picked up an Okuma Stratis baitcast for bass fishing, on sale for half price at Dick's for $29. I do like Shakespeare light action rods that go for under 20 bucks.)

Grizzly jig co. has a shakespeare alpha baitcaster for $26.95.....
I have picked up 5 of those Chinese baitcasters off Amazon and they seem to be equals to name brand reels costing 3 or 4 times as much. 38 bucks and if they said shimano on the side they would be 150. Wouldn't surprise me if they came down the same line as the revos.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.
If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can generally count on Paul's vote.
Had the Shakespeare's and the Chinese reels are much better.
