Thumbar bait casters. I prefer the low profile ones. Good drag, and allow you to release line one handed when trying to land fish with a net on short line.

Hello: I buy good used thumb bar baitcast reels with a flippin switch so I can push the button, drop the line then release the button and not have to crank the reel to engage it, just set it back in the holder. I buy the reels on e-bay spending 15.00 - 25.00 each including shipping. Have a great season. O - R

I use closed bell bait casters by Tournament choice. They do not tangle, expose the line when not in use, and are easy to rig and manage. Cheap, too!
