    Default Southeast Kansas Crappie

Starting next week I'm going to be spending a week in southeast Kansas anyone willing to tell a guy where he can catch some good crappie, I'll be shore fishing because I won't have my boat with me. I was thinking Fall River or Toronto.

No personal experience, but there was a guy on here a couple months ago who said Bone Creek Lake north of Pittsburg "was full of crappie."

Good luck wherever you end up.

Thank you I will probably try Bone Creek at some time next week my daughter lives in St. Paul so it's not a long way from there. Any other suggestions are welcome I'm hoping the weather cooperates and I can camp most of the week.

I would definitely think about some spillway fishing. I have had some very good times doing that and you may get a good variety. Especially without a boat.,,Also, if you haven't, you should check the KDWP and $$ for the fishing spots and reports in the area.

Fall River is 26' high discharging 2995 CFS and Toronto is 19' high discharging 4937 CFS. Both releasing too much to do any good for crappie in the spillway (in my experience). You could try for Flathead below the dams, I've heard of some good ones being caught.

Fall and toronto havr both pinched back to around 1500 cfs due to the rain that is moving into the area. Depending on who you listen to this area could receive another 2-4" tonight thru Friday morning.
