    Saturday, June 13th, 2015


    Newman Lake
    Public ramp, Cty rd 16
    Gainsville, Fl.


    7 am, Day opend, overcast, 74 air temp,
    water temp at 80.4, bara press 30:14,
    rising. Calm wind.
    Air temp continued to rise reaching 93.4
    sunning, few clouds by 2pm. Most
    anglers were "well done, cooked" by than.
    Water temp up 85. Wind S. 9.2mph.
    Early bite was average to good till 9:55a
    bara press 30:16, pressure went 30:17,
    bite stopped till 11:45 resumed when
    press hit 30:16 again. stopped 12:14pm,
    pressure started down - fish went to
    suspended mode - very very few hits.

    Water level 1 1/2 - 2ft below last year
    same time - somewhat difficult for launch
    along with winds & rain combination past couple days made shallow lake look very
    black, mucky, muddy looking.

    Twenty (24) competitors elected to
    take Newmans 5,800 acre lake on,
    looking for those 2 lb plus fish known
    to be in it. (Friday June 12th, a pre-fish
    of 12 lbs, 4.0 oz was taken- with big fish
    being a 2 lb 7 oz) by Darryl Cole.

    Another known fact about "Spec's in
    Newman are very strong- when they
    hit - will give you a feeling of gar or
    big cat strike (be ready - they are
    for real)

    Two (2) postions were paid for "Big Fish"

    1st: Darryl & Terri Cole
    1 lb 12.7 oz

    2nd: Jim & Cindy Witt
    1 lb 10.4 oz

    Five (5) positions paid for "7 fish total
    weight catch"

    1st: Darryl & Terri Cole
    10 lbs. 7.3 oz

    2nd: George Parker - Tim Eberly
    9 lbs. 5.7 oz

    3rd: Don Collins / Rusty Booth
    9 lbs. 4.3 oz

    4th: John Peyton / Mike Herbst
    7 lbs. 9.6 oz

    5th: Harold McGhee / Bill Bercaw
    7 lbs. 5.8 oz

    Cole team fished Wally Marshall rods,
    Spider rigging, minnow tipped, Skippers.
    Pink ice(moon)jigs & buttercup mylar,
    zip jigs. working 9 -10' water at .5-6 mph
    Single jig. 16th iz

    Parker team fished Wally Marshall rods,
    Spider rigging, minnow tipped, Skippers
    buttlercup maylar zips & blue/white stripe
    ice jigs. worked 8-9 ft contour lines,
    .5 -.8 mph
    Double jigged 16 & 32nd oz

    Collins team fished Wally Marshall rods,
    double rigged - (Capps-Cole style)
    Spider rigged. minnows, no jigs free style.
    6-7ft water. .6 -.8 mph
    Doubles

    Payton team, Wally Marshall rods,
    minnow tipped, Awd Acid rain (yellow-
    pearl belly)( Brewer sliders, acid rain)
    9 - 10ft water spider rigging, .5-.7mph
    Doubles (16 th oz)

    McGhee team, Deep South/Wally Marshall rods, spider rigging, Awd crappie candy
    sliders (robin egg blue) Bobby Garland,
    light blue, pearl tail & Jiffy Jig, red head,
    blue body, rainbow multi color tail.
    minnow tipped, 4 -5ft water, .5 -.8 mph.
    Double rigged (16th -24th-32nd & 48th)
