    Default Knot for braid

Those of you who use braid, what knot do you use to connet leader to main line?

If I use leader I use a swivel and tied a palomer knot on both ends. You can't beat the simpleness of the knot and it is strong!

I tie to a hook eye and then cut off the hook. I've had that hold for years on one of my jigging poles. Retie leader as you need it.

    Uni-uni is what we use.

On the Salmon boat, we used 200 yards of 25# backer material, 300 yards of 20# braid, and then a good leader. All connections made with the Uni knot. Never had one come out. For tying braid direct to some terminal tackle I simply use a fisherman's knot. Again, pulling heavy duty dipsy divers I've never had that knot come out. I tested it by running the same line, same knot, and same dipsy diver 6 to 8 hours per day, 3 days per week, for three years. Never had a knot failure!!! How's that for testing!

I have been using the Alberto Knot for the last few years. Small and goes through the guides nice. Takes a little practice but was worth it to me.
