Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, jimp .... I'm still using Vista Home Prem.(since 2007) and that was an upgrade (both OS & PC) from the Windows ME that I'd been using since 2000.
Heck, I even turned off some of the "bells & whistles" of Vista HP from the getgo (dumbed it down to the "classic" look)

I have the same icon that has popped up on my computer also. Does anyone have any idea where it came from? Is it a legit free upgrade or is it a virus waiting to happen?

Its legit. If you click on it microsoft will put you on the waiting list for the upgrade and then send it to you when its available. About August from what I read. I signed up for it cause I would do anything to get rid of Win 8.
