Do you do well with Black crappie fishing crankbaits? Has anybody had any success with Wally Marshall's crankbaits? thanks CF

Just my personal experience, I catch some blacks, but not as many.
I think some of this is just because there aren't as many here, but I'm thinking too, they don't go for the bigger baits quite as well as the whites.

Wally's baits I haven't tried, but have seen a buddy catch fish on 'em.
Seem to be a good lure, but sort of lacking in some of my favorite colors.

I fish crankbaits quite a bit, i catch black crappie on them, ive noticed they work better for me on windy days, but they are good choice if the jigs arent working,

    What raps do you use?
Good things come to those who bait.

Whats Ya'lls favorite crankbaits and colors? How many do you fish at a time? Do you use a lure knocker for hang ups? In the summer in my area the fish go no deeper than 6 to 8 feet because of dissolved oxygen. Will the shallow runners that dive 2 to 4 feet work O.K. or do I need a medium diver? What pound test do I need? Thanks for the trouble with all these questions guys. CF

I personally use Bandits in the 200 or 300 series depending how deep I want them to run. 10# to 12# line and if I'm alone I'll usually only put out 2 poles. One on each side of the boat. Sometimes I'll run 3. As far as colors, I like chrome with a black back or chrome with a blue back on sunny days and pearl with red eyes or splatter back or tennessee shad or fire tiger on cloudy days. I also do better when there is some wind and chop on the water.

My limited "take" on that - IF you can find fish actively feeding on schools
of shad, nope... but if they're hunkered down on the bottom, no luck.
