I would quit fishing if I had to get rid of my Terrova. Mine is 80 pound on an 1860 Horizon tin boat. I have a foot pedal but it has never been plugged into the harness. I use my remote 100% of the time. I longline and troll cranks 90% of the time I'm on the water.

I really like my Minn Kota Power Drive V2. Which is electric steer and yes it is slower to react than cable. I have the added option of the Co-pilot. It gives me the option of a pedal and a key fob control from anywhere in the boat. Early in my fishing career I burnt the brushes up due to my faulty wiring and no circuit breaker that cost me about 15$ and 20 minutes. Later in my fishing career I lost the PCM board due to bangin the prop on rocks. That cost about 110$ and 10 minutes of my time. But if I was in the market for a new one I would buy the terrova. I have fished in boats with the anchor feature on Ipilots and I noticed two things 1.)It don't care which way the bow is facing. 2,) When it gets ready to make a move to adjust it don't care who is standing up and who it throws out from its quick adjustments.

If your just easing along in shallow water fishing with one rod and casting....I wouls stick with cable control.....but if you are going to fish multiple rods and troll....then you need a MinnKota Terrova with I-Pilot.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Ipilot is the way to go. You can set your speed and direction to go right down an area you are casting too. With Ilink you can even follow contours on your maps.

I installed a 24v 80#Moto Guide XI5 with Pinpoint on My Tracker pt 175 this Winter, I love the remote although it took awhile to get used to, sometimes it was kinda like a Chinese fire drill but Ive gotten pretty smooth. The anchor feature is one of the main reasons I bought it, but I have to agree with CatchandGrease it is pretty jerky, I would of hoped they could of slowed down the reaction speed, I have learned to be dead stopped before I go to anchor mode.
