Default ? or 2 about replacing rod tip eyelet

I have a older Wally Marshall Light action 9' rod (yellow in color with the "slider" handles) and I messed up the eye at the very tip of the rod enough where it needs to be replaced since it abrades the line under pressure. I got the damaged tip off with no problems, and had bought a Fuji replacement eye 3 pack with the glue. The smallest tip in this pack is 5/64", and it's too big for the rod tip. The old/damaged eyelet will accept a 1/16" drill bit into the shaft or portion that glues onto the rod tip. Can someone tell me what size tip I need to get so it will fit properly??

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Hello: I'm a rodbuilder and the tip companies have a sizing gauge that I use. Try to find a local rodbulder and they should be able to help you out to get the perfect fit. Most sporting goods stores just try to get as close as they can. I believe the gauges are in 64ths, like 5/64 which would be a #5 tip. If you can measure it you could order it from Mudhole or contact me, I will send you one for free if I have the size you need. Good Luck this season. O - R
