    Default Fresh Water Stripers

Any body out after the fresh water stripers ?

At what water temp do the stripers get active ?

I'm new to striper fishing and looking for info and advice. The lake I'm fishing in is a 2000 acre reservoir with a max depth of 60 ft. and average depth of 30 ft.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated , baits / techniques / depth / ect...

    Thanks in advance.

I pull two umbrella rigs ( usually flash mob jr. that you can get at walmart) and two deep diving plugs. I catch them all year. During summer and warmer weather, you have got to catch them early or late. By 7:30 or so they are usually back deep and done feeding in warm weather. I also have just started fishing for them this year at Lake Hickory in NC, but have done pretty good so far. I am going to begin trying live bait this weekend and see how that goes.

Thanks CW, I appreciate your response .

Our water temp right now is 68 . How deep would you expect them to be ?

Last weekend they had moved out of the coves and were holding on flats off of main lake points. Most areas were close to 30 foot deep and they were holding between 18 and 20 foot there. Like I say, I am still new to this, but every time I find them below 15 or 16 foot like that, it is tough to get them to bite. They seem to move up shallower to 12 to 15 I am assuming pushing the shad up and then you can catch them every time you pull through. I am going to try live bait for the first time this weekend. I will probably troll for the first few hours and then change over to shad and see how that works. Good luck.

Let me know how you do with the live bait . Good luck , I think I will have to try them this weekend if it doesn't rain to much.

We caught 8 total this weekend. Big one was just over 30 inches. My daughter caught it so that was great. It was her first big striper. in about 14 to 16 foot of water and had moved back into the main coves right off the main lake.
