Default Another Great Day In Maine /Pics

I had another Great but cool day today. We fished 3 lakes but only 2 produced. We boated 115 and kept 20. A lot of beautiful crappie came to our jigs. Many in the 13 -15 range.

Looks like another great day of Maine fishing.
    Thanks for sharing them again.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Beautiful fish as usual. What do you think is the main food source for them to grow to that size?

Bee; I noticed a red bead on the line of the bottom crappie picture. Do you use slip floats or why the red bead? Do you use just one rod? Are you vertical or horizontal fishing with jigs? Just curious of how people catch fish especially when they catch a lots of fish. Thanks for sharing the pretty crappie pictures. 115 Crappie Wow!
Be safe and good luck fishing

Hey! I'm up here in PA ..... also a New England state. Some around here call me the "Crappie King"! LOL

I always catch a bunch, but not as many 14" to 15"ers like he does in Maine.

The bead is for a slip bobber. We fish one rod. We use the slip a lot but we also cast and retrieve a good bit. Our spring spawn is on now so the fishing is good.. Yesterday we were on about a 1 1/2 minute average between fish. The number is not that great. We could have caught way more if we wanted to.

Very nice - they sure aren't doing well north of Bangor yet, or I haven't found them.

My wife wanted to kayak a lake we grew up on as kids. Found an old beaver house with lots of bottom structure and once I found the right depth, it was good fishing. Caught a smallmouth and largemouth bass as well as about twenty crappie - kept six over a foot, giving my parents three and eating the rest for supper. The females are loaded with eggs but the water is still cold since ice out was only five weeks ago or less.
