Very nice.
Congrats
Went up to the Gravois and tried spider rigging for the first time. Since there was minimal swearing and no broken rods I'd have to say it was a success. Plus I used every one of the 5 dozen or so minnows I brought. Caught more crappie today in 2 hours than I did in all of the spring last year.
I will definitely have to get set up with a another seat up front for the Mrs. or for junior to start coming along.
Very nice.
Congrats
It is fun- I just started doing that this year as well. I want to graduate to using jigs only next. BUT- it is just a tool- to be used at the right time and place. I still love fishing under a slip bobber. I bring the rigging along every trip- just in case.
I just started this year also, its a lot of fun. I run jigs tipped with minnows usually, or just jigs. A lot of guys will do just minnows on hooks but I havent dont that yet.
I cleaned WalMart out of the double minnow rigs earlier this year-they were on sale for a buck a piece.
I tried jigs tipped with minnows today with not much luck, then switched to straight minnows on a Capps and Coleman style rig and had a lot of small ones plus a few nice slabs.
Congrats and welcome to the club.
Team Double D - " We're not famous, but we should be."
Yep. It sure can be fun!
Yeah Spider rigging is very nice! This year is also my first year at it. I love it and will be using this technique more often.
Catch Fish Or Die Old Trying!
There seems to be a lot of us who converted to the "Dark Side" this year. It sure isn't my favorite way to fish, but after beating my "one pole jigging head" against the brick wall, I have accepted the fact that in the spring you had better have slow trolling in your arsenal. It sure puts a lot of fish in the boat, but if you had better be able to laugh at yourself. If you can't, it's gonna drive you to the nearest alcohol source in a hurry.
