    Default Slip floats

Is there a slip float that you can put on your line without having to thread it on to the line

They have some Mr. Crappie ones at WalMart that you can do that with.

The "Rocket Bobber" will slip when set up as a slip cork.

Like "G" said, Mr. Crappie brand is marketing "Twist-On" bobbers. The design has been around a long time. I think the first ones I used were the old Float-Hi brand.

I take an emery board and smooth up the rough edges to protect the line and allow the bobber to twist open and closed smoothly. I have a little rat tail file I use to smooth the line entry points but you can trim the end of an emory board to do the job. Sometimes I shorten them by trimming the bottom.

The old, old foam bobber design with the internal spring and wire clips on each end have a spot to place the clip that lets the line pass through without clamping down on it. If you only clip these on one end they're supposed to function as slip bobbers, but I've found the line tends to hang up due to the sharp bend it makes at the clip.

I usually rig for slip bobbers with a knot and a bead threaded so I can clip on either a slipper or a fixed float or tight line and switch back and forth quickly. I use a small split shot about 4' above my jig or bait to keep the bobber from beating up the knot or the bait.

I see they're making sliders with clips intended for changing slip sinker weights. I haven't used them but they should be easily adaptable to floats. I've use Thill bobbers a couple of times by clipping them on the line with a small duo lock snap. It worked fine but I had to use a bigger bead than usual to stop the bottom of the snap at the knot.

This one I would like to try:

WingIt Fishing products; Wing It Quick Swap sinkers, bobbers and bottom bouncers

However, when I ordered a "kit" of these bobbers from Cabelas, I received a standard spring bobber with the wing design. Not the "Quik Swap" shown in this link. I should have ordered them from the above link instead.

I bought some of these and they work great. You have to put a bead below your stop. You can but a kit from WingIt with 3 different size bobbers.

Looks like a good system. I like the regular Wing-it slip floats. They're very aerodynamic and give good distance and accuracy. They're also sturdy. I have a couple I've used for years that have all four edges battered but are still perfectly usable. I use weighted Mr. Crappie cigar sliders too, but the Wing-its are go to for unweighted rigs.

Update: I checked them out and now I'm wondering if the regular Wing-it slip bobbers (the older plain style, not the style with the spring) can be used with the Quick Swap connectors. If you have the bobbers then you would only need the connectors. The connectors look like they could be adapted to other bobbers and sinkers fairly easily.

I just ordered a couple of those bobbers....what about the top part of the float? will it just stand up when it hits the water? all i have to do is thread my line through that bottom slip part?

Another vote for the "Rocket" bobber. Well made quality product, not cheap junk.
