Flush mount battery box

Anyone have a link to flush mount battery boxes ...??

I want to move my TM batteries to the front and store them under access hatches in my front deck ...

The boxes need to be stout enough to take the weight of the batteries while the boat is under way ... Preferably with the access hatches attached to the box ...

And big enough opening for a Group 31 size battery ...

My opinion, If I'm truely looking for something custom, I'd negate trying to find something online and find a local business that does good metel work.

I would have the exact dimension box I want built out of alluminum (light weight). I would have all of my wire entry and exit holes pre-drilled or cutout and rubber grommets put in to protect the wires for my charger leads and my leads heading to my trolling motor or other devices. I would also have angle iron put in to fit around the batteries to avoid the need to put in a plastic battery tray. I woudl put in tie down locations to secure the batteries and ensure I had a good piece of foam under the batteries. I would then build a custom flush deck access door covered in whatever material you have for your trim (carpet, vinyal...). Or, you could purchase the pre-made plastic deck lid covers sold in many boating stores.

Just an idea. Hope it helps point you in the direction you want to achieve.

Rickie, have you checked to see how your boat will perform with that weight up front and less weight in the back?

It's enough to make a big difference in how quickly a boat will plane and how it handles rough water. It can be good or bad.

My boat rests way too nose high with the outboard, 4 batteries and the built-in gas tank in the rear ...

I drive to the bay I'm fishing and troll all day ... So on-plane performance is not important to me ...

My big motor gets used less than 1 out of every 10 fishing trips ...

I fished an entire year without a lower unit ... and didn't miss it a bit ...

I'm trying to get the nose down in the water more ...for fishing ...

Thanks for the link ... I'm limited on size to have a compartment that the 31 series will just clear the access hatch ...

I may have to do custom like wick mentioned ...

I had problems years ago with boat being light in front end causing boat to porpoise. I moved my 2 deep cycle batteries in boxes to the front storage box. Sure stopped porpoising. It also held front of boat lower which helped in the wind while fishing. mine was located just behind the front pedastal . Sold that boat but might have photo where i rebuilt / carpeted the old boat. The compartment was welded in the hull.
