    Default Smithville help

I have fished Smithville all of my life. But I have only fished the main lake. I always hear of different names of branches or coves up north. Is there a map some where that has the names of coves. Hopefully in a week or two I am going to have a buddy go with me and show me the channel going north of w bridge.

Some maps have the names but its kinda of a crap shoot which ones are named and which aren't. Most of them get "names" from other fisherman and they aren't always the same names. If you hear one ask exactly which cove they are talking about and write it down! then when your done put it on here so we all start using the same names!

Which W bridge? Hope your buddy isn't Joedog!

Rock Creek, Lynn, Roberts to name a few but like already said depends on who ask.

Buy yourself a map and study it. Lots of the names will be kind of obvious because they describe the shape or some other feature. Find one of us on the water and we can help, too. Creek names will be printed on the map.

Those double double u bridges are a testy subject, that's for sure!

The more time you spend on the lake, the more "go to" spots you can find. Check out Rogers in Liberty or Burtons in Smithville if you want to go old school hand held maps. And like Dave said...never trust electronics when dodging stumps up north.....or anyone who rhymes with Shmeeferfish or Shmoedog!!!!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!
