get the best you can afford, i use shimano UL rods 5 1/2 and 6 ft and am very satisfied using them as you are plannin to, castin jigs. i use the 'V' rods, but the are out of production.
Have a new shimano sahara and looking for a good sensitive 6 to 7 foot rod to cast mainly 1/16th jigs.Looking for a good sensitive rod but don't want to spend an arm and a leg either. Any suggestions?

I'd recommend an IM6 or higher modulus graphite rod. length is personal preference. I like my 5.5 ft best but the 6.5 is nice, too for distance casting.
Quantam and Abu Garcia both make rods under the $40 mark that fit the bill.

On the lower end, check out Bass Pro's Microlites or Quantum's Xtralites.
For a little more money, I am also impressed by Shimano's rods. They're very well-balanced and feel much lighter than they are.
And for still more, St. Croix Avids are sweet. So are Loomis' GL2 and GL3.
Sam Heaton, Super Sensitive 7' by B'n'M Poles at www.bnmpoles.com ....But don't get it from them, their to expensive....Cabela's has em'.....Demo Man
You already have one of the nicest reels money can buy. Why not make it a total class combo. I own a Shimano Stimula rod and it's well worth the money.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
Which model Sahara did you buy?Originally Posted by slabdaddy

I own a 7' convergece shimano rod . I was'nt aware you could get that rod in 11'6". I will buy one of those for sure. I love shimano rods and have always wandered why they did not make a long rod? Thanks for the tip
