Default Trying to find right colors-- Snaps or retie ????????

When trying to find out what colors to use, do you guys use snaps or retie?

If you use a snap, would you please give the name?

    Thanks,

I 100% retie. I don't like extra metal on my line creating weight and drag in the water. I can retie just as fast as undoing most snaps.

When casting ... Neither one, most of the time.

Since I'm using unpainted jig heads and plastic bodies, it's simply a matter of pulling off one color & putting on another.

But, on those occasions where I'm not using a jighead/plastics rig for casting ... I retie for other casting baits. I use Owner Quick Snap Clips on my main lines for spider rigging (when using jigheads on a leader). I also use these clips for cranks & blade baits.

What crappiepappy said just change body. If I'm using a float I will use a chartreuse head because under a float is the only time I think the head color makes a difference. Also I keep 4 to 6 rods with different sizes, colors and set ups.

I'm still testing this. I use red #12 swivels on my leader double rigged with loop knots. I was told I would loose fish. I use the swivels for faster changing. I guess I'm a little hard headed. Seems like a good idea but if it doesn't work...

Am I using the wrong type jig head? Seems like when I remove the plastic body, it ruins it.
Some of these are .30--.35 each, so can add up in a hurry.

Yes if not changing lure, I just change the body. The jig head should not ruin, but the plastic usually does. A jig head for 30 cents is high.

100% retie if changing jigheads. I can not stand even looking at snaps and junk on my line. If using inserted heads in a tube I will hang that set on a piece of pool noodle around my rodholders and tie on a new one. But yes $0.30 a piece for baits is costly. Might try looking at larger packs from Grizzleyjig or Monks.
