Good work. I have a friend that has tried pouring then two color stingers but has an issue. When you put the jig through the body, the two colors separate. Any ideas on what he is doing wrong? I don't know if he is using a dual injector or not. N

When you hand pour the belly and then inject the body I have found that it is best to heat the body plastic a little hotter up to 360-365 degrees. Be sure you have added heat stabilizer so it does not burn. When you inject the body hold and apply pressure for an extra ten seconds so the two plastics bond together well. Just my thoughts......I am still learning this craft.

Ship has some good suggestions on this. I'll just add that if the hand poured portions are done in numbers in advance and allowed to sit for even a day they should get an alcohol bath before they are used. Plastic bait parts made ahead will exude oil and the surface you are bonding to when the top color is injected won't or is less likely to develop a good weld even when pressure is held on the injector or higher heat is used. I make a lot of tail pieces and store them but I cut the sections longer than I want to bag them for later use. When I want to use some I simply cut off the extra which gives me an oil-free surface to weld to. I have made and stored belly sections too, but those have to have the mating surface wiped free of oil using alcohol and paper toweling.

Add my two cents worth in here when you are using a laminate plate make sure that you clean the surface with alcohol or acetone most of the problems with the guys use and they laminate plates is they do not clean the plate and it has to be absolutely clean of dirt and grease . as CTOM in ship mentioned I do not use laminate plates anymore I use a dual injector which is a lot better method but anyway just make sure that you clean the laminate plate.
