Very good report, congrats on a good day.
My friend Josh and I had our first trip of the year to Truman. We started by stopping at Everharts to see our friend Jared and to get some minners. If you have not been to this store you need to go, they have EVERYTHING!!!This past winter I watched ALL of Kevin Rogers videos on crappie fishing to learn as much as I could. In particular, I wanted to try his advice on using bigger baits for crappie. We rigged with chartreuse 3/16 oz. jig heads and Slab Docktrs as well as tipping them with a minnow; made for a rather large presentation. We started in Jackson and never left. I should add that I also rigged another rod with orange head 1/16 oz blue and white panfish assassin and tipped that with a minner as well. NEVER had a tap on the smaller presentation but they ATE the bigger one. EVERY single fish we caught was caught on the bigger baits. Largest crappie was 1.6 and 13 3/4 in. next was a 1.3 and 14 in. ALL fish came out of 14-18 ft of water 9-10 feet down. Fun day of learning something and catching some really good fish. Thanks to Jared and Kevin Rogers for sharing your info, it is appreciated!! We also have our handsome smiling faces on the board at Everharts as we entered our fish in the big crappie contest.
