Default St John River this week

We went down to Astor this week for Shell Cracker fishing. The weather was not our friend. It was very cool and windy as two fronts came through Sat and Tuesday. My partner and I did manage to keep over 100 nice Crackers and a few gills. The water temp in Lake George was 67 but it was 72 at Lake Dexter. We found no fish moving in the shallow bedding areas but did find them schooling and feeding in the deep shell bottoms. Almost all our fish were in 10-12 FOW. We fished worms on the bottom with no corks. The trick was to cast up river and let the current walk the worm down the shells.

Big fish full of eggs and ready to spawn and most were pound+ fish.

That area has been a good place to anchor. Thanks & hope to find & read your post where you're catchingem on the Satilla. Plan to be there sometime in June. Good fishing.
