    Default Greedy White Pearch

Drifting today with C&C type rigs, minnows about 24" over jigs. Detected a light bite and set the hook. Picked up a fish with the jig and minnow hooked in his mouth. It was only a 9" fish.

Wish they'd pester me a LOT more! Great fighting fish and they taste good too. Hard to find concentrations of big whites here abouts though.

They are very bony in my opinion. They run small around here. They make runs like the white bass. So if you have inlet River or streams in your lake about now is the time to head there and fish on bottom with worms or minnows.

.... sounds like that little feller was HONGRY !!! And if he had both the jig AND the minnow in his mouth ... stands to reason he grabbed the jig, then saw the minnow & decided to eat it, too.

If you had said "white perch" to me about 45yrs ago, I'd have thought you were talking about Freshwater Drum. That's what I grew up hearing them called, and was well into my 20's before I knew better. Also had to learn that a Crappie & a Newlight were the same fish !!

Haven't heard of the newlight, but I lived most of my life on salt water
