SALUTE!
Due to the tragic accident recently. They buried George Griffin Jr. yesterday in Lafayette. He was the pilot, 37 years old with a wife and a father of four. 21 year veteran. The fly over was appropriate. Tragic loss.
I had the extreme pleasure to meet Hugh Thompson years ago. He lived here in Lafayette. Stopped the My Lai Massacre in Viet Nam for those that remember. Humble, quiet fella. Not into the vet movement wanting attention.
Fellas like these two men are the ones that I have an upmost respect for. Thank you.

George Griffin Jr. was dedicated. Received his pilots license at 16, then completed basic training the summer between his junior and senior year in high school. He wanted to be prepared and was. He also was one with his aircraft, and all knew it. This dedication is what I respect.
Hugh Thompson did what was morally right in his mind. Came home and minded his own business. Wouldn't know of what he did overseas meeting him. Didn't wear his accomplishments on his shoulder so all could see with hats, tee shirts, participation at the VFW's, etc.
I can list many others - like my dad.
This upcoming Memorial Day is, what it is. Please folks, let's keep it that way, a Memorial Day. Not a "welcome home" to living vets day that I have seen so many times here on crappie.com on that day. Each year you will see it here. Off the soap box now. Thanks for understanding - if you do. Thank you.
