    Default Crappie Lake

I live in Sikeston, Mo. and I was wondering if any of you know of any good crappie lakes around here. Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Hi handy. First of all, welcome to the board. I live outside of Jackson and fish Wappapello and Clear Water quite a bit. There are decent numbers in both but not alot of size. Too many years of unregulated size limits. Wappappello is slowly coming back since they instituted the 9 inch length limit. In my opinion the best bet for good crappie close to Sikeston is Reelfoot in TN. or make the trip to any of the northern Mississipi lakes. You could be at Sardis in about 2 1/2 hours Enid in 3 and Grenada in 3 1/2. Any of those are world class. Any way, Good Luck. Speck

Welcome handy glad to have ya....if you're looking for size try Duck creek conservation pool #1 there are some 3lb black crappie in it but i can be hard to fish with the shallow weedy water but the rewards would definatly be worth it.

Good point Bugs. I forgot about Duck creek. There is also Mingo NWR right there also. The Mingo river is full of cypress trees and very big crappie. It is mostly a no motor zone but if you dont mind paddling a small jon boat or canoe, you can hit the jackpot. Monopoly Marsh is good also.

Thank you Fuzzy, Speck and Bugs. I've fished the Wappello a few times but that's not really my kind of lake. Duck Creek sounds like a good place to me. I love to fish around Cypress. Caught a lot of nice fish when I lived in Arkansas fishing around Cypress trees. If I ever get a chance I'll check out Duck Creek and some of the other places that was mentioned. Thanks a lot for your input.
