    Try mounting them on a piece of plywood and set in the seat while moving them around the boat. Keep in mind where the trolling motor will be positioned when stowed and where you plan on having a sonar unit mounted.
    This should help you decide where they need to be mounted.

    keep in mind other techniques you might use them for or get 2-3 base plates .

    When your sitting in fishing seat.....I like mine about 6 inches in front of my knees ......that way I can grab a rod quick without leaning or stretching to get to it.

    On a plate mounted to the T-rail so you can move them whenever needed

    I have extra mounting plates. I bought 2 sets of 4 pole holders but on my home lake I can only do 3 poles at a time so I may only mount I set on this boat and maybe set up both of them on my other boat it's set up better for both sets I will try to post pics later

    Sometimes you can look on Google images, type in your boat name and just look at the pictures how other people have their boats rigged.
