I think most people do that kind of thing. I also think that most people have tons of tackle but only use a hand full it.
been crappie fishin for 6 or 7 years now. have gotten pretty good at some techniques others still gotta lot to learn. ive got every type and color combo of jig known to man, however every time i go to a sporting good store i spend an hr browsing the crappie section and will usually spent 20 or 30 dollars on something or other. My question is: is this normal behavior or do i need to find some sigmond freud type to set me down and explain it to me...... for a nominal fee of course.

Murdok; Sometimes I think that the fishermen get caught as much as the fishermen catch fish. There have been all kinds of lures and jigs made over the years that was to be the best thing since sliced bread. Only later after buying it I find that it is no better than the next best to come out next year, so I go buy more. I over the years have bought the flying lure, the helicopter, the bangle lure and we not even going to start with the different colors and types of plastic jigs worms etc. in bass and crappie lures. And most of these I never caught one fish on them. I can just imagine the sporting goods stores, reeling in the next fisherman with the next best (you gotta have it) bait or electronic marvel thats going to help catch fish or catch the fisherman. The thing about catching a fish is you can spend very little and catch fish or you can spend a fortune and catch fish. It's just up to you how hard you try to catch that fish I think. And I am still going to use minnows.
Be safe and good luck fishing
YOU ARE A JIG JUNKIE ! BEEN THAT WAY FOR YEARS ,. EVERY SO OFTEN I FIND A HIGH SCHOOL KID AND MAKE ROOM FOR MORE .

I do the same thing! For me it's the late night shopping on the internet. I just love to do that! I don't know why?
I'm also a "Fly Tier" and a "Plastic Melter" so I spend for that also!
