14' rods with low priced Daiwa baitcasters you can find refurbished baitcasters on the net pretty cheap
I about to buy a whole new crappie setup. I was running 12's. My plan is to get 8 16ft B n M pro staff trolling rods. I was thinking about a cheapish low profile bass reel like a pflueger criterion or something similar. Suggestions ? What are yall runnin ?

I like the baitcasters as well, might look at the Southern Crappie Rods in 16 footers, will save ya over 100 bucks and I like them much better than the PST.

We use those cheap $10 baitcasters with 15 lb braided line.

Cabelas has their Daiwa Laguna's on sale now for $29.99. I don't spider rig but use these and really like them.

No, no, no, brother .... you don't fill the entire reel with braid. You use the cheapest mono in a heavy pound test that you can find at your local WallyWorld or online, and fill the reels to a point where you have space enough to finish filling it with a length of braid that is longer than the deepest depth you'll ever fish. Especially so on baitcast reels that have a larger capacity spool. That way a 300yd (~$25) spool of 15lb PowerPro could put as much as 25-35yds on each of your 8 reels. And that $25 worth of braid should last you for many, many years of use.
