Never have used planer boards, thought I would give them a try.

Any comments from others that have used these for fishing Crappies?

    Thanks,

    Pescador

I have a couple of Church's mini planers. They's Bout the same thing. Mine sunk with a 1/4 oz jig. Mine also dive like a dumpster digger. Billbob brought me some thin styrofoam sheets and I glued some styrofoam to fit the planer back. They don't sink now and I have caught fish using them. They are a PIA for an old man though. I only use the planers when fishing slows down in the summertime.

Pescador; I have not tried them but seen them here on Crappie .com home page for the first time in the tournament. Hope you will be sharing how they work out for you and I hope you catch a boat load. I am afraid they would be a problem with others and me in my smaller 400+ acres lake. We have jet skiers, ski boaters and some fishermen now a days that have no respect for others anymore being the problem. I could just see me with 6 poles out say 30' out on each side and like I said some don't care, they will zoom by you in a heartbeat. But let me know how they work out. I may try them early in the morning as the skiers and jet skiers are not to be on the water before 9:00 am. Be safe and good luck fishing

The off shore mini will work good if you maintain a good speed. They tend to sink when turning or slowing down, I like the crappie reapers as they float better. I pulled cranks and long lines with them last season.

But they float on their side when not moving which can cause them to dive when forward movement starts ...

    Correct...??
