Yes the blades should spin. Fish em all kinds of ways really. No real wrong way except to fast.
New to using roadrunners, how is the best way to fish them. Are the blades spinners,or do they just wobble on the retrieve?.The reason I ask,I bought an off brand at wallyworld last year, and the did not appear to perform like I believe they should.

They are my go to jig. Jig them, cast and slow retrieve over brush, and great for shooting docks. Many fishermen use them slow trolling.
yo-yo motion....reel a turn and stop........reel a turn and stop..........pop it let it drop.......good bait
Thanks, the wallyworld imposters are a complete failure, soon as our 8" of ice melts,I will try the real macoy's
Love the Roadrunners! However, best if you chuck the end of the swivel (the eye that the blade is attached to) in a drill and give it a whirl or two. Reason being, this is a mass-produced jig and paint often times gets inside the body of the swivel, making the blade not spin properly. I find the best retrieves are dependent on the mood of the fish. I've fished them slow rolling along the bottom, on-off bottom retrieve, slow trolling and flat out fast trolling. I do prefer the marabou version. There are always crappie willing to bite this bad boy!

Look for deals on RR's. I got a great deal on ones from Wal-Mart. Less than $3 for a 12 piece package. The sale is over now but keep an eye out. And yes, they are real RR's. The package is original.
As for fishing them. I jig them straight up and down most of time and get lots of bites because the blade is shiny and moves a bit and gets their attention. The best of course is movement like slow trolling and the shiny blade will spin getting them to bite. You have to love RR's.

Road Runner Lures by Crappie Pappy
Coloradoblade for the thump (vibration)
Willow Blade for the flash
Silver for clear to slightly stained water .. clear skies
Brass for lightly stained to dingy water .. cloudy skies
Smooth surface blade for single flash
Pitted surface blade for multiple angle/broadcast flash
That's the way I understand it, anyway.
I normally use the silver Colorado bladed RR's ... but, I do have RR heads withvarious sized blades, both styles & both colors.
Tha's some good info! Thanks! I did not realize that the flash on a Road Runner could get as complicated as picking the right color jig! I learned somtin' new!!
