    Default Three years Ago ..........

Back in 2012 , around this this time , actually it was on March 1st , I caught the stringer below fishing from shore with my Flyrod . This was about half what I caught that day . I've been back the last couple of years and haven't been able to find them in the same spot .
I'm headed down to the spot this afternoon hoping I can get into them again . This time I'll be armed with my new 9' light spinning rod and jigs tied up in the same patterns that worked back then .
Of course the weather isn't the same , which will most likely hurt my chances , but it's suppose to warm up to around 60 this afternoon . We'll see . Gillchaser

Very nice catch for the first of March! Wish I had some open water right now.

Nice catch. Would like to be fishing here now, weather temp. is 67 degrees but the wind is from the south at 22mph gusting to 38mph. I don't like to fight the wind.

Spent five hours tossing jigs and caught one bluegill to keep the skunk off and slim the new rod .
Weatherman missed it again . Sun made short appearance of less than ten minutes . Stayed cloudy all day and the wind got worse as the afternoon went on . With temps in the teens at night for the last couple of nights , it's going take some serious sun to star warming up the shallows.
Best part of the day was the new St Croix 9' light action rod I was trying out for throwing light jigs with weighted floats . That thing will toss a jig and float . Had a nice bend with the bluegill too.
Rough weather day , but you can't catch them sitting at home . Gillchaser

Thanks , the jig that scored was a 1/64 th unpainted jig , gold size 10 hook , with a sparkle yellow chennile body and yellow rabbit fur tail . Simple jig tie . I Kept changing colors about every 15 minutes until I found a color combo that scored .
Pretty sure it was one of the yellow ones in this box , bottom right . Gillchaser

Thanks Gill. I have some tied for the fly rod that will get some use in a few weeks when the weather warms and the prespawn pattern begins. Just a 4wt but it should be a ball. Have fun with it....Skeet
