Default What 12' Rod for fishing pads and why?

    Fiberglass? Graphite? Bottom Reel Seat??

Old Timer here, won't be fishing all day, so weight of rod will not be a problem.

Read quite a few reports where tips break frequently! I do NOT abuse my equipment.

Hoping for advice from guys with actual using the rod experience.

    Thanks

i love a 11' Ozark forward seat rod because it has backbone and highly sensitive.

If you are fishing shallow pads, then I would not recommend the Ozark. It is a little to stiff for pulling big fish out of thick pads with a short amount of line out. IMO, you need something that has good backbone, but a soft enough tip to flex a little on the hookset and when maneuvering them out of the pads. I use a 12' B&M BGJP for jigging shallow pads, and a 10' Duck Commander for deeper pads and Alligator Weed. I use the stiffer rods, Berkley Cherrywood or Buck's Ultimate, when fishing brush or Cypress trees when a faster landing is needed to keep them out of the brush. I will warn you though, the BGJPs are bad about breaking tips. When mine breaks I will probably not buy another.

I have several new front replacement halves for the 12' Buck's jig poles if you want to buy or trade .
