Probably just Mylar and if you go to the store right now you should be able to get a load of gold and silver. Just buy the stuff (ice sickles) for Christmas trees.

Now that is not the only kind or type, there is also Holographic tinsel that looks great. You can buy the gold or silver in this too. Also all of it can be bought in different sizes if you get it from the fly tying stores.

As mentioned flashabou is good and comes in many colors.

At least that is what I think you are talking about?

Thanks for the info. One more question. Would this be suitable for tying small bucktails? http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...=SearchResults
BTW, this is just for experimental use, I am not getting into the business.

I am sure it would be fine. I use a true rotary vise so I can turn it around to see the back side and under, but it's not necessary to just tie bucktails. However I would like to recommend you look at the kiptails as that is better jig material IMHO. I like bucktails OK, but the hair is so long and coarse I just like kiptails better for crappie jigs.

If you have any questions other than this I would be happy to help. Just PM me anytime!

I got the exact same kit for my recreational tying and it works really well. I also bought a small trayless tackle box to put all my supplies in. I sometimes carry it with me just in case I catch some on a specific jig and suddenly need another one.

looks like a good kit bps also has a jig tying kit that comes with materials and a video that will help you learn faster its bout 50 bucks i think. i agree with skip i leave the bucktail for tying flies its to stiff and coarse for jigs. most people use kip(calf) tails for jigs. but i prefer polar bear hair cause you get alot more movement from it in the water. although its a little harder to work with just my opinion
