Default Middle of March Fishing Trip?

My son & I want to take a fishing trip mid March as he will be on spring break from college.
We live in N . Ky and will drive up to 8 hrs or so and want a place hopefully ""warm"", and good fishing.

Had suggestions from friends but not sure on the best place to go.
Leaning to Alabama, is it to early around the week of 10th of March -
Doesn't have to be Alabama, I just have that stuck in my head

a lot of questions to ask but I want to throw it out for help. Thanks in advance.
I truly enjoy this forum I don't post much but love the pictures and all the Pictures of crappie.

All depends on the weather in Alabama for early march, if we get a few warm days the fishing will be good.

If you had your choice between the two lakes, Weiss or Guntersville which would you pick.

I have never fished Wiess, so I can't compare the two. I grew up fishing the river delta and lakes in Mobile which is supposed to be great fiahing. To me Guntersville is a better fishery.

Understand that the weather in March is very unpredictable. I went to Weiss a few years back with my brother and our wives and got blown off the water every day we were there, including a day with a guide. It was a good time for us all but my future trips will be a few weeks later. Weiss and the others in the Coosa river, Guntersville, Nickajack, and Chickamauga are all good fisheries. The provisions we found at Weiss were comfortable. Chick has been doing well lately. Keep asking as you decide and folks will help you fine tune things like hotel, bait and so on.

Skeet, that is what is making me jittery about planning a fishing trip in march. My heart is in it but my common sense says March is Tornado month and windy for the most part, and we have had some bad storms around that time.

Might wait till we get closer and see what Mother Nature has to dish out. Thanks for the replies.

Go to have a GREAT! Time with your son. Don't worry about the weather or the fish. Good luck.

Not sure the distance but Crescent lake or Astor Fl would be good. If it is windy you can hide in the river. Bite should still be good as well.
