Shredded Cardboard

I have heard of putting cardboard into your worm bed as food for the worms and to keep the bedding from matting does anyone know if this works?

I don't know if this will help.
I will pick up a few boxes at the store break them down and fold. Lay them in the flowerbed and lay a few brick on them. Wet them down and the worms find their way to them.
