    Default Best spinning reel question

I am planning on setting up my bass boat for trolling this spring and have decided to go with BnM Prostaff rods. Which spinning reels would you guys recommend with these rods and braided line?

Also planning on using 1/8th oz jigs. There is lots of structure where I am at so that is why I need the braided line. Any hook recommendations?

    Thanks Guys!

I'm always for Shimano! They've just been too good to me.

They don't have to be expensive but they do need a good drag. I have some Shimano's that have been in use over 10 years, and they weren't high dollar in the first place. Loosen the drag when you store em and they'll last a long time.

You might consider the Mitchell 308xe if you're using braid ... but, fill the spool about 1/2 way with old mono & then finish filling with your braid, regardless of what brand reel you get.

If I were using 1/8oz jigs ... I'd want a #2 lite wire hook on them.

Also ... if using braid, be sure and have a wood dowel or something similar to wrap the braid around to pull your jigs free. Using your hands or rod handle can result in "cuts" to either. Also nice to have handy is a pair of Fiskar Childs Size scissors to cut the braid with, as it cuts the tag end blunt, which makes putting the braid through small jig hookeyes a lot easier.

    ... cp
