    Default Vintage Bass Boat...ASTROGLASS

Kinda off topic but need some information. I've got a friend that has this vintage bass boat under his barn and is thinking about selling it. I've tried the internet for information on it but not much success. He's got the title etc. but has to find it so I don't know the year. All I know is it's a great looking boat and I've not seen that many still in use.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Those were some good fishing, tough boats. Fished out of one a friend had years ago. Fished a bunch of club tourneys out of it. They kinda rough at speed but good stable fishing flat form. Make someone a nice starter boat for sure. Looks well taken care of. Looks to be mid to late 70's model.

There have been rough days on the water when I wished I had an old bass boat like that with the pedestal seat on the floor instead of high up on the front deck. Be glad it is not a front stick steer! If he will let you pick a place on the transom where you can drill into it. If the wood comes out anything but dry pass on it. Either that or remove the cap and replace the transom and runners. I did both to an old Glastron and it worked just fine until I got rid of it. Be sure to glass or epoxy the hole back. Go for it.

Thanks for the responses...I'm not interested in doing a project boat so I'm just helping him out by getting info on it. I'm sure the floor has a soft spot or two. Other than that it looks great.

That brings back a lot of memories I talked myt mother into helping me buy one, they were made in PleasantView,TN about 15 miles from my home they all were green mine had a 35 hp Mercury no troling motor just could barley afford the boat motor and trailer the live well if you could call it one had a little oiece of tubing incerted into the bottom and a valve to turn it off and on,mine never worked right, I was about 20 years old that summer I learned how to water ski, my dad didn't know anything about it we stored it in my grandfathers barn, Im thinking we paid around 1,700 dollars, and they may have built some somewhere else. PS if anybody is interested I know where one of the first Bass Master Classic's boat is at it has the same 85 hp motor on it and is in almost new condition.

They were great boats. At some point Astroglass and Procraft were 1 family. I believe Glasstron bought that mold and continued making that boat long after Astroglass and Procraft quit making it. Not a pad hull so was not as fast as the newer designs back then but very stable on water.n

Believe you are correct Mike, Procraft bought them out in and around late 80's maybe
into early 90's. Most likely the Merc. on it will give you rough date of boat by
    serial number of engine.
Glasstron's were very stable in midwestern states, including Ky & Tn. on medium sized
    lakes / rivers.
