    Default Spawning question

When should we see crappie have eggs? I caught one today that appeared to have a swollen belly and I thought it might be about time .

Around here (Arkansas) they start putting on eggs in October when the surface temps fall through the low 60s but they won't spawn until April. It takes a long time to for each female to build up several hundred thousand eggs and for each male to store up enough milt to fertilize them!

I have nothing scientific, but I know I begin seeing the females have eggs around October each year in NC.
