Was thinking about heading that way on the 26th. Any reports?

I haven't heard of any good reports from Talquin in quite a while...But they are way overdue to turn on. I think I'd postpone that trip until the fishing picks up down there. Several lakes on the St Johns River system are doing good tho.

i would postpone. i live right on the lake near the dam and fish crappie often. before the rain that is coming down now, the water was 57 degrees and the fish, and shad quite deep, usually 15 feet or more. today, the 24th, we have had at least 6-7 inches of rain here and still raining hard. lake level as high as i have seen it, up over the neighbor's sea wall. the river will be bringing in cold, muddy water and floating logs and weeds for some time. forecast is for clearing tomorrow and warmer weather by friday with no rain in forecast through sunday, but water conditions will take some time to clear with this much rain. yuck.

River to crest at least 5 foot over flood stage Friday. Depending on the dam release it will probably be slow for two or more weeks.

Crossed the Oklochnee on hwy 90 yesterday about noon and it's way high and running strong and muddy. It feeds Talquin so plenty of water headed downstream. Sister here in Tallahassee got first mail yesterday in 3 days. it's been a mess around here. Lake Jackson is high but that didn't stop the duck hunters this morning. Don't know about fishing but I'll find out tomorrow just because I'm here with the boat.

    Merry Christmas to all.

    Default Ochlockonee

Was back across the Ochlockonee River on hwy 90 yesterday morning. It's much higher than last Wednesday but should start dropping today. It's pouring a lot of muddy water and trash into Talquin.
