Christmas Shoppig for Crappie!!

While many of my friends and family went to Jackson or Paducah for Christmas shopping, my fishing partner and I went to Birdsong Resort and Marina to shop for some crappie.
Neither of us had ever fished there before and didn't really know what to expect. The owner of the resort Bob Keast met us at the boat ramp and gave us a few tips about water depth, creek channels, where not to run, and where not to fish.
When we arrived the temperature was in the mid 30's, and water temp was in low 40's. Water color was murky/dingy. We never used the outboard except to idle to our first spot and load the boat on the trailer. We started trolling minnows and found the old creek channel (a tip from Mr. Keast). We stayed all day in the same general area going back and forth over the dropoffs, catching most of our fish on the deep side of the drops. We won our tournament catching around 30 fish with 16 of them being keepers, and our best 7 weighing in at a little over 8 lbs.
