As long as the bait stays at the depth you trying to reach in my opinion it doesn't matter. I prefer 1/2 oz weights.
When you are spider rigging in water, up to 25' deep, do you think it matters what weight sinker you use as long as the sinker keeps the rig on or near the bottom?

I use 1oz all the time. Tie all my rigs the same. If you want to go faster you can without changing weights.
Wilbur is right......weight is determined by your trolling speed......not depth
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Wind! When it's blowing 30 mph you can pass over your brushpiles stump or point and let the wind push you back over then bump the trolling motor again to fight wind, without your lines leaning every which angle.
I use 1/2oz if its a good day on 10' rods.. Lots of wind I switch to 12' rods with 1 oz.
I cast more than anything now.. If I'm tightlining chances are I'm not having a good day. I use to troll with 4rods but now ill just hang two over and cast with the third rod

I troll 5/8 regardless of the weather. I usually run 4 tenths to 6 tenths MPH.
Tell'em I'll be there.
1/2 oz most of the time
3/4 oz. Unless I git something free.
Takes all the guess work out of what size if you ain't got but 1 size. Simplify.
