Not sure you can get a motor over 40hp with stick steering. I know here in Arkansas a dealer can not sale it that way.

Can't go wrong with a War Eagle. Duck hunt out of a 1542.

I have a 1648 and Love It! Bought it more for a duckhunting/bass fishing, but now these crappie have gotten in my blood and wish I would have gotten a little bit different setup. (40hp and stick steering vs tillerhandle 25hp). Other than that I really enjoy it.

Ezy Stik III now allows you to run up to 70hp with Stick Steering...Blackie has it on his Duracraft with a 50hp Yamaha...The new HP rated Stick Steering has been out for a couple of years...

A friend of mine who I fish with occasionally has that boat with a
50 Yamaha four stroke, and I drove it a couple of times.
It's a real nice boat, only problem he has had is he had to carry it back
to the dealer three times to get the livewell pump to work...
They finally figured out it was mounted too high and air-locking.
    Finally got it working though.

I can see why he likes it, but after I drove it back up the lake 7 miles in
a two-foot chop, I decided I like sitting in the back better
( I think maybe thats why he asked me to drive that day :p )

That's cool that you can run a bigger motor. And it is ture that it is a rougher ride up front. the back is much nicer. I run a 40hp tiller and I love it. nice ride. Had a 60hp tiller on a 1660 bow fishin boat. 3 guys cross the back seat and movin on.
