And not a hole in the ice!!

I clever quip fishing ironic statement crappie!

I heard that Don G caught a Crappie from the inside of a concrete silo, through a hole in the side of it (Watts Bar Lake, Tenn)
I also saw a TV Angler catch Crappie through the cracks in the wood flooring of a marina's boat slip walkway (as well as from the lower unit fins of large outboard motors of moored boats, where they were spawning on the fins).

Guess its not much different than dock shooting. Kinda weird looking.
From a dock with a hole or the ice with a hole its still a hole. Set up your fishfinder with a ice ducer or loop your reg. ducer to hang level and have fun.

Once my wife was fishing along a walkway near a weir while I was fishing just a little ways a way. She was jigging a panfish assassin down one side and then up the other side. After a little while without a hit she noticed a space between two of the walkway boards. The gap was just a little over an inch wide. I laughed at her and asked if she caught a fish how was she going to get it up. About 10 seconds later she said like this. She had pulled a nice slab into the gap and then reached down and lipped it and pull it through. After her third fish I told her to move over because I was coming over. We pulled 34 slabs out of that one spot, all of them were around 13 inch fish. I've never laughed at her since.

An old man took me crappie fishing to show me "how to do it". One of the first things he did was step out of the boat onto someone's wooden dock and hacked out a wide slot, between 2 boards, with a hatchet. I haven't been fishing with him since.
I did that a lot as a youth when I did not have a boat. Crappie love shade. There is a lot of shade and structure under docks. I knew docks where people had purposely cut a 3" wide by 7" slot for them to fish through. Funny thing was they clearly marked it "Beware of the hole in the dock"
