Skip, I believe that dog will hunt.
Well I have been thinking about this for a bit now and here is my first attempt to make a hand tied jig that you can use with the bait pump. So let me know what you think? Notice the little clear tube under the hair.

That gives me ideas... how about rubber tubing? They make some pretty small stuff that the pump nozzle will just fit into. Just another option...
Nice idea! I agree that dog will hunt and retrieve.
I have a jig with a face like this!
I believe you're on to something.....

On my last trip out I did something similar to this with great results.
I cut 1/4 inch pieces of aquarium tubing (about the same size as a crappie nibblet).
I inserted the hook point into the inside edge of the tube out,( only one side not both) this way it hung from the back side of the hook, Then I would squeeze one nibblet into the tube.
Basically it was like having a nibblet on the hook but the fish couldn't rip it
off. In addition to letting the scent slowly leech out you could see the nibblet color though the clear tube.
Facts are I never seen it before! Maybe you should read my response on the LA. board!Originally Posted by shadow
Matter of face if you look back you will probably see I never made a post on that board until a couple of months back.

I have read your post and I did not say you are trying to steal someone's idea I just wanted people to see that other people had the idea before you posted your jig picture.Originally Posted by skiptomylu

No problem shadow, it just looks like the implication is that I got my idea from him and the truth is it never happen like that!Originally Posted by shadow
I got my idea from looking a materials for fly tying and saw the stuff for tube flies and thought that my be good for this application and that is all!
Anyway I am over this and moving on.
The way I see it is people can buy a hair jig from me and get some tubing from medical supply and cut a piece and put it on for them selves, LOL!

I don't know what they charge for aquarium tubing, but the medical supply places has tubing that will work also.Originally Posted by Daniel
I had thought about something like this too, but I was not sure how well it would stay put. I made my tube a little longer than you so it would jam into both ends of the tube to keep it still. I did think about making a tiny hole to slide the hook point through, but again I was not sure if I put some glue it would stay put.
I like the idea though of it passing through one side of the tube.
