    Default EagleClaw ice reels

A few months ago a member here posted about these reels. After asking some questions and doing some research I decided to order a couple to two pole with. They came yesterday and I got the retrieve reversed on one and mounted the up. These are by far a better than the Solo reels I had on my rods. They have a push button free spool, you actually wind them like you do a regular reel and they are much easier to convert from right to left hand. If you are looking at the Solo reel I recommend you look at these, mine were 24.99 each with free shipping. Well worth the extra cost IMO.

Hey Justin, I have been playing with them and have 4 now. I like the way they handle and I changed one to right but changed it back. I cut 1/3 of the handle off to make it easier to reel and push the button in. I have 2 with power pro and 2 with 8# mono and the mono so far is laying nice. The one problem I see is the reel free spool tension. Hard to get set right. I really wish they had an under spin type release instead of the button but nothing is perfect. I like the original ones because the reel sits closer to the rod. We shall see how they hold up if the fish ever start biting good. Fished hard last week and 1 here and 1 there.

I haven't used mine yet, I'm off this week to deer hunt and hopefully start fishing. It's a little early for me to start but I've got an itch. I played with one in the shop last night, the tension is a little touchy but a 1/8 oz jig will free fall on a 12' rod. So far this is the only reel that it would do it on. Power Pro Super Slick 8 on mine.

I took this video a couple years ago when they were first released. Feel welcome to look at my Photo Bucket account.

The only thing I had to do to was file a little chamfer on the front and back of the foot. It's pretty thick and didn't want to fit the clamps on my reel seat.

Will do tomorrow Ricky. I just took a hack saw and cut close to the nut as I dared and then filed down the aluminum. Don't cut the side with the nut retaining plate screw. Pics soon but its easy peasy!
