Westsam, I too have the garman map 76. To get to the wass info.
1- press menue button 2 times. This brings up main menu page.
    2-scroll down to SETUP.
3-press enter, this is the general page. The second line down is WASS. This will tell you if wass is enabled or disabled.
4- If it says disabled, scroll down to wass and press enter, there will be a box with enabled & disable. Scroll up to enabled and press ENTER.

    This should fix you up.

If,on the satellite page, you see 2D Differential or 3D Differential the receiver is using WAAS...This is in the Receiver status block where it says acquiring satellites when you first turn your unit on.

I think that I read somewhere that at least at one time satellites numbered above a certain number (25 as I recall) are WAAS satellites. I haven't been able to dig that information up again to verify it though so...........

The most up-to-date information I can find is on - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wide_Ar...ntation_System - and if I understand the information presented there are now four satellites that broadcast the WAAS corrections available to North America.

Satellite Name & Details SVN / PRN Location
Pacific Ocean Region (POR) ID #47 / PRN #134 178°E
    Atlantic Ocean Region-West ID #35 / PRN #122 142°W
    Galaxy XV ID #48 / PRN #135 133°W
    Anik F1R ID #51 / PRN #138 107°W

The "ID" number may be the numbers of the satellites that show up on your satellite page - I'll have to check on that. If that's the case then #48 and #51 would be the the satellites available to the central US region.

But, all that being said, you should be able to get within 5 to 10-feet of a saved waypoint if you have enabled WAAS and your GPS receiver has a "clear view of the sky". If there are buildings, trees, hills or anything tall between your receiver and the south (WAAS satellites are over the equator) the WAAS signal may be degraded. The better the signal your GPS is receiving the more accurate it will be and visa versa.
