Nice spread of slabs there.
Darryl and I had the pleasure of taking Outdoor Writer and Photographer Keith "Catfish" Sutton and his friend Alex (works for the AG&F Commission) crappie fishing today and we had a nice trip - Keith is the hairy guy on the left:
Keith has several books available on his website - http://www.catfishsutton.com/ - including his just released - The Crappie Book: Basics and Beyond
As I've mentioned before, Keith writes for ESPN Outdoors and his articles are available on-line at - http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/f...on_keith_index

You've put me on those articles before and I ended up red eyed and wanting more as I lost a LOT of sleep! They truly are good ones, and I appreciate you giving me the information.

Thanks everyone - it was a lot of fun. I always enjoy fishing with Keith because he tells a lot of interesting fishing, hunting and outdoor adventure stories in a way that makes you feel like you were right there when it happened.
To make this trip a little more interesting and challenging I left my landing nets at the house - both of them - but not on purpose though. We've been "doing the boo" here lately so I had to give my boat a good scrub down the day before so I had taken my landing nets out and neglected to put them back. A lot of the fish were "lifters" anyway but we ending up hoisting several that would normally be "net fish" and lipped several of the biggest ones.
It's unusual for it to get too nasty for us to fish here but when we get all three of the winter nasties - COLD, WET and WINDY - we usually reschedule rather than fight the conditions and make ourselves miserable. There are a few days here each winter that are more suited to sitting by the fire and reading a good book or surfing the net but not many.Originally Posted by stump grinder
