Finally got some time off to go fishing. Lets see if I can find some food to catch at good ole Smithville. Going all summer without fish in the freezer sucks.

Today was slow, slow, slow!

Well , how did you do ? I haven't been on the water much since deer season started .

I wish i had good things to say about my time on the lake but all i could catch was a few dinks and those were tough to get. Tried dipping trolling casting and ended up with maybe 12 and all were shorts. Caught some hefty bass in shallow water. Way too many shad in the coves and all of the crappie were scattered and in about 15 ft of water when found in small groups. Fished up in the twin coves area. I watched a big long something about 4 ft long break the surface after the shad, it might have been a gar or a huge walleye but that thing was huge. All of the bass and crappie i caught had fat tight bellies I guess from all the shad. Anyway thats all I could catch.
