    Default HDTV Antenna

Just about ready to get rid of the DirecTV trash and commercials. Nothing worth watching anymore.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an HDTV antenna?

Depends on where you live relative to the stations you want. I have this one with the booster mounted in my garage attic. Does an excellent job but I'm limited to the one city that is about 65 miles away.

    AntennaWeb - Home

Start here. They help identify which stations are in your area, and which type of antenna to get (color coded). They don't specify brand, just the type you need to get the stations in your area.

Thanks for the replies. I am about 60 miles away from Roanoke. Tried one of the small antennas and couldn't receive any channels. I will take a look at Antennaweb.

I have high speed internet to access the database at work, but not for the television. I watch very little television, but when I do I use a converter box that I bought from Hammacher Schlemmer. Works fine out here in the country. Receive channels from Lafayette and Baton Rouge - news, etc. Then again, I'm not into reality shows that some are in to.

The Digital TV Transition: Reception Maps

I liked this site better than antennaweb.org. If you run coax to the antenna you might want to install a mast mounted booster. There are several good antennas out there that will reach out over 70 miles if the antenna location is good. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
