    Default More Work horses

Case IH 7120 with its twin...

Both of these were really used back in My Cotton days. They still do a lot of duty but nothing like they used to.

    1968 International Harvester model 856

This tractor saves our back from heavy lifting and is a great heavy framed general utility tractor. Used to do a lot of field work on this tractor.CF

That first horse looks like it just got shod on the rear. That old tractor with the bucket is a work horse for its size.

O man brings back memories. Dad had one just about like that when I was a kid. I remember one febuary morning I had just finished plowing a field and was coming back to the barn. I swung to wide coming through the fence and broke one of the control arms off the back. Luckily we had a local junk yard that had another. Looked expensive back then to me anyway.

Awesome pics Farmer, I love seeing these old tractors. Tractors from the 60's & 70's are so awesome to me - I'm like a kid in a candy store when I see them. I always tell my wife that my dream job would be driving those 60's & 70's tractors all day long in a field. I wouldn't want to have to worry about the crop quality, bushel prices, etc, etc, I just want to drive the tractor & combines lol.

I'm sure to you that's a laughable concept, I bet you get sick of it!

Not really. Driving the heavy equipment is the fun part. Knowing You have the ability with that equipment to do things a lot of other folks can't do is comforting. Helping people with that equipment when they get in a jam is the best feeling You can have. WORKING on that equipment when it breaks down SUCKS!!! I enjoy working with that old 856. I like the newer tractors more for their comfort in field work. Driving the 856 down the road when it is 30 degrees outside ain't no joke! That old tractor saved my hind parts after Isabel. That loader with a set of logging tongs and a chain lifted a sad log out of my yard. Our D6 Caterpillar bulldozer handled the rest. I'll put up some pics of it too sometime.CF
